Position Summary:

At Credence, the Captain plays a vital leadership role within our team service model — acting as the orchestrator, guide, and standard-bearer of the guest experience. This position is ideal for career-minded hospitality professionals who possess a deep understanding of fine dining and the ability to seamlessly execute all front-of-house service roles. As the lead of a collaborative service team, the Captain ensures every detail of the dining experience is delivered with precision, grace, and consistency. Exceptional leadership, clear communication, and strong task management are essential. Captains are responsible for engaging guests with thoughtful insights into the menu, expertly timing service, and fostering an environment of warmth and excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned tables, ensuring seamless, attentive, and personalized service throughout the guest’s dining experience.
  • Direct and coordinate support staff (servers, bussers, food runners) to ensure synchronized and timely service.
  • Welcome guests warmly, present menus, provide detailed knowledge of food and beverage offerings, and guide guests through menu selections and wine pairings.
  • Ensure flawless execution of all service steps, including order taking, course pacing, wine service, and table maintenance.
  • Uphold the restaurant’s standards of hospitality, etiquette, and service protocols at all times.
  • Anticipate and resolve guest issues with professionalism and poise, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain clear, respectful communication with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in training new service staff and continuously support the growth and development of team members.
  • Monitor table settings, cleanliness, food presentation, and service flow to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Assist in daily setup, breakdown, and side work responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adhere to health, sanitation, and safety regulations in all aspects of service.
  • Create and maintain a positive team-based environment
  • Demonstrate and maintain an extensive understanding of all menu offerings

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in fine dining establishments
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Punctual and reliable attendance
  • Proficient in operating point-of-sale register systems, including processing credit card and cash transactions
  • Must be well-groomed and well-presented
  • Must have an appreciation for detail, and a passion for guest service
  • TABC Certified
  • Able to execute the mechanics and standards of service.
