Residential Care Home Cook
FLSA Status: This position is considered NON-EXEMPT in relation to the pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Residential Care Homes operate in a 24/7/365 fashion and follows a 1st/2nd/3rd shift model of working hours. However, from time-to-time working hours may extend beyond normal scheduled shifts. If this occurs, compensation will follow Wage and Hour guidelines established under the Fair Labor Standards Act as identified in Change Inc. Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities:
The Cook prepares food in accordance with menus, diet specifications, and sanitary practices.
1. Checks and records food temperatures during the cooking process.
2. Reviews menus and records necessary substitutions.
3. Assures that food supplies are available for the next meal and notifies supervisor of needed supplies.
4. Maintains a clean and safe work area, cleaning spills and assisting in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, according to assignment.
5. Ensures proper storage of food, labeling of stored foods and that outdated foods are discarded.
6. Utilizes cleaners and other hazardous materials in accordance to proper procedures.
7. Follows facility fire safety and infection control practices and promptly reports any unsafe conditions or equipment.
8. Greets residents, visitors, and staff courteously and with dignity following confidentiality standards and promotes resident rights.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Meet qualifications as required by local or state regulations.
Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Experience with supply orders and inventory audits helpful.
Written and oral communication skills required.
