Position: Seasonal Sommelier

Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Seasonal Sommelier to join our team at a private, members-only country club. The ideal candidate will bring extensive wine expertise, excellent service standards, and a flair for creating memorable wine experiences for our members and guests. This role will play a key part in shaping our wine program, curating tastings, and maintaining top-tier wine service throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operation of the club’s wine program during the season
- Conduct regular wine inventory and maintain accurate records of stock levels
- Work closely with F&B leadership to develop seasonal wine lists and pairing recommendations
- Organize and lead member-facing wine events, such as tastings, wine dinners, and educational sessions
- Source and order wines aligned with the club’s vision and member preferences
- Ensure proper wine storage, handling, and cellar organization
- Train front-of-house staff on wine service, tasting notes, and pairing principles
- Maintain strong relationships with distributors, vintners, and industry professionals
- Provide elevated table-side wine service and recommendations as needed during dining hours
- Monitor wine trends and provide insights to enhance the club’s offerings
Qualifications:
- Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent preferred)
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in a sommelier or wine-focused role, preferably in a private club or fine dining setting
- Strong knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, vintages, and food pairings
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Professional demeanor and passion for hospitality
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season
