The Operations Engineer Chief directs the work of the custodial employees in the building and assures the performance of cleaning assignments, building maintenance, and safety requirements.
Required: 1. Three years of successful custodial experience 2.Two years of leadership experience

- 12-month Calendar: Current full-time employee has been working for 12 months prior to the job posting date.
- 210-day and 230-day Calendar: Current full-time and Part-time Employee has 12 previous months of actual workdays prior to the job posting date.
- Academic Calendar – Current full-time and Part-time Employee has 12 previous months of actual workdays prior to the job posting date.
- Exception I: Newly hired employees must be through the probationary period AND meet the Bid Criteria- Lateral/Promotion for Non-Interview Positions prior to the job Exception II: Employees in the food service department may transfer at any time without an adjusted probationary period.
- Exception III: PT bus associates may transfer to a PT bus driver position at any time
- without an adjusted probationary period.
- Exception IV: PT bus drivers hired prior to September 30 are eligible for a FT driver position the following school year.
- Meet all posted qualifications of the position.
- Attendance - sick leave standard is as follows:
- Employees must have ten (10) days or less of family/personal sick leave or “no leave hourly” time used. Scheduled hours in the timekeeping system will be utilized.
- Sick leave will be calculated based on the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting date for all employees.
- All authorized Unpaid Leave of Absences (not FMLA approved) will not be taken off the record for this purpose of the bid process.
- All authorized FMLA leave (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record for this purpose of the bid process.
- All authorized Worker’s Comp (paid or unpaid) will be taken off the record for this purpose of the bid process.
- All authorized Medical Leaves of Absences (paid or unpaid) will not be taken off the record for this purpose of the bid process.
- All authorized Leaves of Absences for “Other Reasonable Purposes” according to the Comprehensive Agreement will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the director of personnel before determining if it will be taken off the record for this
- purpose of the bid process.
- All employees must not have any “no call/no show” incidents the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting
- All employees must not have any unauthorized time off during the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting date.
- All employees must be in an active paid status at the beginning of the posting.
- Exceptions will be considered by the director of personnel.
- Evaluation: composite score of “meets” or better on the most recent evaluation
- All staff must have one evaluation on file.
- If no evaluation is on file by the end of the respective work calendars for the year, it will be considered a meets evaluation.
- Exceptions will be considered by the director of personnel.
- Discipline: no formal discipline during the 12 previous months of actual workdays from the posting date for all
- Seniority: if two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications, the employee with the greater seniority within the department or classification (depending on the position) will be given first consideration. Exceptions regarding department or classification seniority will be considered by the director of personnel.

DAYS: 260 Days HOURS: 8 Hour Day
BASIC FUNCTION: : Serve as lead custodial staff in assigned facilities. Responsibilities may include coordinating staff schedule; maintaining inventories and supplies; conducting basic building safety inspections; providing maintenance and repair to equipment and building facilities; and performing custodial duties. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the operations department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assure cleanliness inside and outside the building/complex.
2. Order and manage sufficient supplies to properly maintain facility.
3. Ensure that preventative maintenance objectives and work tickets are completed
4. Assist custodial specialist in the preparation of work schedules for staff.
5. Perform tasks as assigned by the building administration in order to meet the unique needs of the building and its occupants.
6. Provide direction and coordination of custodial staff assigned to the building of facility.
7. Perform all cleaning tasks required to maintain the facility.
8. Collaborate with operations staff to ensure facility is properly heated, ventilated and maintained during night or day activities.
9. Provide leadership to ensure facility is secured each night to prevent loss of or damage to property, or failure of mechanical equipment.
10. Carry out all policies and procedures as set forth for building personnel in operations.

- Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office tools.
- Working knowledge of good housekeeping practices and procedures; ability to operate cleaning equipment.
- Working knowledge of broiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment.
- Leadership skills.
- Ability to present a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment and promote spirit of cooperation with others.
