OVERVIEW
The Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, located in downtown Los Angeles, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian. This position is assigned to the evening shift (4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) and plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment for judicial officers and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, personal integrity, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform janitorial and general building maintenance duties.
Perform minor building and equipment repair tasks as needed.
Report maintenance issues that require further attention.
Empty waste receptacles and recycling bins.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, justices chambers, attorney/staff offices, and conference rooms.
Clean glass surfaces, mirrors, and refrigerator interiors.
Move and arrange furniture, equipment, and supplies as requested.
Restock supplies in restrooms and cleaning stations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
May be required to work daytime hours as needed.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for certain tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One year of experience performing janitorial and general maintenance work.
Licenses and Certificates:
May require possession of a valid California drivers license.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Methods, chemicals, disinfectant, and other materials used in janitorial work and routine building maintenance.
Safe operation of a variety of cleaning equipment and tools.
Basic office practices and procedures.
Ability to:
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Safely operate a variety of cleaning equipment and tools.
Lift and move equipment, boxes, furniture, etc. weighing 50 pounds or more.
Comply with health and safety codes.
Organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
Clean and care for facilities and equipment.

PAY & BENEFITS
SALARY RANGE: $3,555 - $4,324 per month
(Starting salary range will be between $3,555 to $3,911)
Please note due to statewide fiscal conditions, the posted salary range is subject to a temporary 3% reduction. In exchange for this reduction, judicial branch employees accrue an additional 5 hours of paid personal leave per month through June 30, 2027.
