The Cage Cashiers responsibility is to be efficient in Cage operations, maintain accurate daily records of cash transactions, checks, credit cards and EFTs. Work is subject to periodic manager, accounting manager and internal and external auditors. The Cage Cashier will work hours appropriate to meet the needs of the business, which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions of the Position

Ensure Thunderbird quality guest service and cheerful atmosphere maintained in your department.

Ensure safety and cleanliness of department at all times

Make good and proper decisions that reflect positively on you and the Casino

Responsible for the compilation of all necessary information and preparation of reports needed to comply with Tribal, Federal, and State regulations

Maintain proper compliance at all times

Run cash drawer to assist guests

Handle large amounts of cash

Cash out guests tickets

Pay out jackpots and payouts

Cash checks, credit card and EFTs

Track guests under guidelines set forth in Title 31 training

Exchange coins and chips for guests

Deal with guests in an efficient and friendly manner

Keep accurate records of monetary exchanges and vouchers

Maintain Cage security according to policies and procedures

Obtain customer signatures as policy demands

Maintain good working relationship with all co-workers and general public

Perform other duties as assigned

QualificationsJob Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Knowledge and experience with modern office equipment and its usage.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize responsibilities when necessary; effective time-management skills.

Knowledge of the operation of a variety of computer software, including word processing and 10 key and proficient typing.

Knowledge of cash and ticket handling procedures.

Knowledge of Tribal/State/Federal laws and regulations.

Knowledge of National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA).

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, Board members, and the public, both in person and through phone, e-mail and written correspondence.

Ability to learn quickly, self-leader with initiative, highly flexible and comfortable in a constantly changing environment.

Ability and accuracy to handle large sums of money.

Skill in communication with guest and employees in any situation.

Good math skills and ability to use those skills quickly.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities, but will assist guests at the Cage.

Physical Demands

Required to walk, sit and stand for periods of time.

Ability to push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and move intermittently throughout the day.

Work Environment

Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.

Exposure to smoke and second hand smoke.

Noise level can be minimal to intense.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience combined).

One (1) year casino experience preferred.

One (1) year previous cash handling position preferred.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a key gaming license.
