Position Overview
We are seeking a poised, professional, and highly organized Host/Hostess to join our team. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, you set the tone for an exceptional culinary experience. The ideal candidate possesses a natural warmth, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to seamlessly manage reservation flows under pressure in an intimate, fine-dining setting.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Relations: Greet arriving guests with genuine warmth, manage the coat check, guide parties to their tables, and provide a polished, elegant farewell.
Reservation & Table Management: Expertly manage table turns and floor charts using our reservation system (OpenTable) to maximize seating capacity without compromising service pacing.
Flow Control: Monitor the rhythm of the dining room, coordinating closely with service staff and the kitchen to stagger seatings and prevent pacing bottlenecks.
Inbound Communication: Professionally handle phone inquiries, manage large party requests according to restaurant guidelines, and accurately log guest preferences or dietary restrictions.
Problem Solving: Gracefully resolve scheduling conflicts, accommodate walk-ins when possible, and manage waitlists during peak dining hours.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience hosting in an upscale or fine-dining establishment.
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with restaurant reservation platforms (OpenTable preferred).
Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills and a polished, professional demeanor.
Composure: Proven ability to remain calm, organized, and welcoming in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Flexibility: Availability to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
