Steward Job Description

Job Title: Steward
Department: Hospitality BOH
Reports To: Head Chef/Sous Chef
Pay Rate: Part-Time: $25-$28 hr + tips & benefits
Hours of operation: Monday - Friday 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm/ Saturday hours 3p-10p

Position Summary
The Steward plays a vital role in supporting our regenerative farm-to-table culinary operation by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the kitchen, dining, and event spaces. This entry-level position is ideal for someone who is passionate about hospitality, sustainability, teamwork, and creating exceptional guest experiences.
The Steward helps ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment while supporting the culinary and service teams in delivering high-quality farm-to-table experiences rooted in environmental stewardship and Hawaiian values.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Sanitation & Dishwashing
Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations and work areas.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
Assist in securing facilities after hours (e.g., locking doors) when needed.

Kitchen & Facility Support
Assist with cleaning and maintaining kitchen, storage, prep, dining, and event areas.
Sweep, mop, sanitize, and organize workspaces throughout shifts.
Remove trash, recycling, and compost materials according to sustainability practices.
Support inventory organization and storage of supplies.

Regenerative & Sustainability Practices
Participate in composting, recycling, and waste-reduction initiatives.
Support the organization's regenerative agriculture and environmental stewardship goals.
Help maintain cleanliness of farm-to-table service areas and event spaces.
Demonstrate respect for the land, resources, and locally grown products.

Team Support
Assist culinary, beverage, and event teams as needed.
Help with setup and breakdown of events, workshops, and guest experiences.
Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Qualifications
Previous experience required; hospitality or kitchen experience is a plus.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and take direction.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
