The Opportunity

This position works out of our Lake County Illinois, Waukegan Building locion in the Global Engineering Services division, serving the greer Lake and Cook County Facilities.

This primary function is to provide 24 hour, 7 day a week "skilled trade" maintenance support to the manufacturing, research and development laborories, warehouses, and office facilities th make up Abbott Park and its associed owned and leased lake County facilities. Maintenance department services include th of manufacturing equipment repair, electrical power equipment and distribution system upkeep, equipment and facilities preventive and predictive maintenance, refrigerion and HVAC system maintenance, lubricion services, environmental testing, heavy equipment rigging, pipe fitting, mechanical, general building maintenance and welding services.

Wh Youll Work On

• Performs all types of mechanical maintenance work on a variety of equipment and systems including production and facility equipment loced throughout Abbott lake County sites.
• Work includes troubleshooting, ordering parts and installion of parts and merial on various equipment such as centrifuges, compressors, gearboxes, blenders, dryers, fermenters, pumps, etc.
• May specialize on maintenance and repair of escalors, overhead doors, dock levelers, etc., along with other equipment reled to either production or facility operions.
• Does preventive maintenance work on all plant equipment including air handlers, utility distribution equipment loced throughout the plant.
• Will perform vibrion analysis and balancing functions on roting equipment.
• Work may be on new equipment or rearrangement and/or retrofitting of existing equipment and accessories.
• Will do light machining work on machine lhes and milling machines, etc., to make basic shafts and cut keyways, etc.
• Reviews construction plans and drawings to determine the approprieness of design and conformance to Abbott Engineering Standards.
• Also makes merial and labor cost estimes and merial take-offs.
• Performs training and hands on work instruction for less experienced mechanics including members of the STEP program.
• In addition to work th may also be performed by STEP Mechanics and Mechanics, the Sr.
• Mechanic will work as a multi-skill tradesperson, doing electrical, pipefitting, building maintenance and/or other work on special assignments as requested by the supervisor.
• Assists in ensuring th GMP and safe work policies and procedures are followed and maintained all times in accordance with established company policies.
• Is able to plan and prioritize workload to ensure positive productivity and excellent customer service.
• Orders merials and parts from the stockroom and inities work orders, house requisitions, miscellaneous purchase requisitions and various other documents th may be required.

Minimum Qualificions:

• Must have a high school educion or equivalent.
• Must possess a minimum of 5+ years of increasing job knowledge and responsibility in field of mechanics. As an alternive, must have completed all requirements of the Abbott STEP program for mechanics. This experience must indice proficiency in all aspects of mechanical construction and maintenance work including the demonstred ability to work well with others in a commercial and/or industrial work environment.
• Will have advanced understanding of all aspects of physics and mechanical theory and applicion to mechanical systems in a commercial and/or industrial environment.
• Must be expert in the use of all mechanics hand tools and wrenches, measuring devices, power tools including drills, hammer drills, saws-ails, etc.
• Must be proficient in the operion of shop equipment including drill presses, grinders, and lhes to perform all aspects of equipment installion and maintenance.
• Will be able to perform advanced troubleshooting and mechanical repairs and to install mechanical equipment and accessories according to Abbott engineering Standards.
• On an independent basis. the individual must be able to evalue the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions in regard to safety and company standards and policies.
• Must understand all CHAMP functions th pertain to mechanical maintenance activities.

The base pay for this position is $22.50 $45.00 per hour. In specific locions, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
