Position Summary

The Sommelier is responsible for all wine sales on the floor while serving the guests in a friendly and efficient manner. Sommeliers are passionate about all beverages and service and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our guests.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Actively engaged in the salesmanship of wine and beverages.
  • Greet guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Suggestively upsell the best wines for personal tastes and food choices.
  • Take the order and accurately put it into POS.
  • Marking tables with wine glasses.
  • Marking food and drinks at the table when needed.
  • Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glassware.
  • Decanting of wines when necessary.
  • Tasting and quality check of wines before presentation to the guest.
  • Maintaining pour levels and clearing glasses.
  • Provide efficient drink running service.
  • Provide all related beverage services.
  • Bi-Weekly Wine inventory.
  • Weekly Wine ordering with Manager approval.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period.
  • May be required to lift trays of food or drinks up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to receive and carry multiple bottles of wine at a time, up to but not limited to a full case of wine.

Skills/Experience

  • At least two (2) years previous high-end restaurant or hotel experience.
  • Current food handler card.
  • Level 2 Sommelier Certification or higher from an accredited program.
  • Excellent listener and communicator.
  • Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask.
  • Team player and able to anticipate others needs.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
