Position Title: Lead Custodian

Job Classification: Classified, 12-month (230 days)

Reports to: School Principal

Pay Scale : Classified Salary Scale, Salary Grade 4;

Qualifications: High School Diploma

Summary: Responsible for overseeing and performing custodial tasks within the school to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position requires leadership skills to manage a custodial team and ensure that all cleaning duties are performed effectively and efficiently.

• Supervise Custodial Team: Lead, train, and supervise a team of custodians, ensuring tasks are completed according to established procedures and standards.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing, and trash removal in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and other areas.
• Floor Care: Maintain floors through regular waxing, buffing, and stripping when necessary.
• Safety and Security: Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and stored properly; ensure that safety protocols are followed at all times.
• Inventory and Supplies: Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and order additional supplies as needed to ensure proper stock.
• Repairs and Maintenance: Report any needed repairs to building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, or lighting, and perform minor repairs or troubleshooting when appropriate.
• Set Up for Events: Assist with setting up facilities for special events, meetings, or activities, such as setting up chairs and tables or preparing specific rooms.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with school administration and staff regarding cleaning schedules, maintenance issues, and any concerns about facilities.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including sanitation and pest control practices.
• Perform Additional Tasks: Take on additional custodial duties and responsibilities as required by school leadership.
