Job Title: Housekeeper 3rd Shift (Hospital Facility)
Job Description
This role supports the housekeeping department in a large hospital facility in Washington, DC, providing essential cleaning and environmental services during the 3rd shift. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff by performing a wide range of housekeeping duties in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive cleaning support throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, discharge rooms, hallways, bathrooms, offices, and common areas.
Change linens and make beds according to hospital standards and infection-control procedures.
Dust, sanitize, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors and surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Pull and properly dispose of trash and waste from patient rooms, offices, and common areas.
Sanitize high-touch surfaces and equipment to support infection prevention and control protocols.
Perform general floor care duties, including mopping and, when needed, assisting with buffing and other floor maintenance tasks.
Respond promptly to cleaning requests and support the needs of the housekeeping team and hospital staff.
Deliver friendly, professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, maintaining a courteous and respectful demeanor.
Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure coverage of assigned areas.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting time expectations such as cleaning rooms within 3045 minutes and achieving hallway cleanliness goals.
Remain flexible and willing to perform any housekeeping tasks required to support the team and the facility.
Follow all hospital policies, safety guidelines, and environmental services procedures while on duty.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of housekeeping work experience, preferably in a similar environment.
Demonstrated janitorial or housekeeper experience, including cleaning, sweeping, dusting, mopping, and general custodial duties.
Strong customer service experience with a customer serviceoriented mindset.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers, patients, visitors, and supervisors.
Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with defined time expectations for cleaning rooms and hallways.
Comfort working in a hospital environment, including exposure to medical situations, equipment, and smells.
Ability to sanitize and maintain cleanliness in patient rooms, hallways, bathrooms, offices, and common areas.
Reliability, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude that supports team goals and department culture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in environmental services (EVS) or hospital housekeeping is highly beneficial.
Experience in hospitality, home care, or general labor roles involving cleaning and customer service.
Experience with floor care, including buffing and other floor maintenance tasks, is preferred but not required.
Prior custodial or janitorial experience in a fast-paced setting.
Ability to adapt to varying tasks and priorities throughout the shift.
No specific licenses, certifications, or DOT requirements are needed for this role.

Work Environment
This position operates on the 3rd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with two openings available. The schedule includes days off every other weekend, providing regular time for rest and personal commitments. You will work inside a large hospital facility, which means exposure to medical environments, equipment, and smells that may be sensitive for some individuals. The pace is fast, with expectations to clean each room within approximately 3045 minutes and to meet cleanliness goals for assigned hallways. The work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and handling of cleaning tools and equipment such as mops, vacuums, and floor-care machines. The environment is team-oriented, with close coordination among housekeeping and environmental services staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
