About the Job
The Campus Concierge Officer serves as the primary point of contact for visitors, staff, and students within assigned campus facilities, delivering a high level of customer service while maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
This role blends hospitality and security functions, ensuring positive guest interactions while actively supporting access control, monitoring security systems, and identifying/reporting safety and security vulnerabilities.
The position operates under the direction of University Security leadership and works closely with building managers, University Police, and other stakeholders to support daily operations and campus safety objectives.
This is a 100% time, in person position. Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
70% Guest Experience and Front-Facing Operations
- Serve as the first point of contact for all visitors, providing directions, assistance, and general information in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Deliver a hospitality-focused security presence that promotes a safe and inclusive environment.
- De-escalate concerns or conflicts through professional communication and service-oriented engagement.
- Assist with wayfinding, event support, and general customer service needs.
15% Access Control & Security Monitoring
- Monitor and enforce building access control policies, including U-Card access and visitor procedures.
- Operate and monitor CCTV systems and security technology platforms to maintain situational awareness.
- Conduct routine checks of entry points, security systems, and public-facing areas.
- Coordinate with University Police and dispatch (PSECC) when necessary.
15% Building Liaison & Operational Support
- Act as a liaison between University Security, building management, and stakeholders.
- Support implementation of site-specific security procedures and best practices.
- Support emergency response protocols and building evacuations as needed.
- Provide initial response to safety concerns and escalate appropriately.
This job may be designated as essential. The employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS plus at least two years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience equal to six years.
- Experience in security, customer service, hospitality, or public-facing operations
- Must maintain eligibility for access to law enforcement-sensitive information, including CJIS Data Access Terminals.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Essential Qualification: Regular attendance is an essential qualification for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education or public safety environment
- Familiarity with campus security operations and access control systems
- Experience working in a concierge, front desk, or guest services role
- Prior experience identifying and reporting security risks or vulnerabilities
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skill.
- Ability to balance hospitality and enforcement responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of security systems (access control, CCTV, alarms).
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
- Proficiency with report writing and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 100% Appointment, 12 month
