Position Summary
The Industrial Janitorial Foreman is responsible for leading janitorial operations at Bayer Luling facility, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance Zachry/Bayer site requirements. This role supervises crews, coordinates with operations and maintenance personnel, and maintains cleanliness across process units, administrative areas, warehouse, and common spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and direct daily janitorial activities across the Bayer Luling site
Assign work task based on plant priorities, production schedules, and safety requirements
Ensure all cleaning tasks meet Zachry/ Bayer standards for housekeeping, environmental compliance, and audit readiness
Conduct regular inspections of work areas (units, control rooms, shops, break areas, restrooms, etc.)
Enforce strict compliance with Zachry/ Bayer safety policies, including:
o PPE requirements
o Badging and accountability for plant alarms
o Absenteeism
o Rolling stock
o Incident reporting
Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and daily pre-job briefings
Train and mentor janitorial personnel on site procedures, cleaning methods, and hazard recognition
Coordinate with Bayer operations, maintenance, and contract management for:
o Scheduled cleaning work
o Turnarounds and outages
o Emergency response (spills, housekeeping events)
Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies, tools, and equipment; ensure proper storage and usage
Track labor hours, crew productivity, and job completion status
Report incidents, safety observations, and near misses in accordance with Zachry/Bayer protocols
Qualifications
High diploma or GED required
Minimum 5 years of industrial janitorial or plant services experience
At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
Experience working in a chemical plant, refinery, or industrial manufacturing environment preferred
Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment (Burnishers, single disc strippers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners, etc.)
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety practices
Work Environment
Active chemical plant environment at Bayer Luling
Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, heat, chemicals, and outdoor elements
Work performed in operating units, and dock areas
Physical requirements
Ability to lift 50lbs
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, and standing
Ability to wear required PPE including Steel toed boots, gloves, hard hats, and chemical goggles
Schedule
Full-time position; must be flexible to support:
o Overtime and weekend work
o Shift work if required
o Plant outages and turnaround schedules
