Wooden Pin is looking for a Pastry Chef (Weddings & Events) to join the team.
About the Position: The Pastry Chef (Weddings & Events) oversees the planning and execution of wedding cakes and mini patisserie produced in the bakeshop under the direction of the Executive Pastry Chef.
About You: You have a passion for cooking, ingredients, and technique. This position is perfect for a motivated individual with management and interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties:
Collaborates with the Wooden Pin Sales Manager on tastings and menu planning.
Provides design recommendations and works with clients as needed on the customization of their cake and/or desserts.
Facilitate wedding cake consultations as needed.
Work with the Executive Pastry Chef to create and develop new menu items.
Responsible for the planning, production, delivery and set up of wedding/event cakes and desserts as per client agreement.
Monitors ordering, receiving, and storage of food, packaging and department related items-especially related to Wooden Pin menu items.
Supports wholesale production as needed and as instructed by the Executive Pastry Chef.
Records and maintains all sanitation reports and records to ensure proper food handling.
Provides on the job training and development of bakers and support staff as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.
Responsible for opening/closing of the bakeshop as scheduled.
Qualifications:
Must have flexible schedule to work during days, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed
Experience in wedding cake decorating
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and three years of related kitchen experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Abilities:
Passion for food preparation & service
Strong understanding of basic baking and pastry techniques
High level of modern/advanced baking and pastry skill
Understanding of culinary skills, including proper knife cuts
Great attention to detail
Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift and move 25-50 pounds
Be collaborative, using a team approach to creating an equitable workplace environment and have respectful working relationships
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive compensation - $54,000 - $86,000 / year!
