Job Details The Barn at Walden is a special restaurant in rural Aurora, OH serving hotel guests of our 24 room boutique inn as well as members of our 60 year old country club. The dining program has recently been taken over by a young chef with experience from NY and Miami in Michelin kitchens, seeking to elevate the food at Walden through precise local sourcing, and globally influenced flavors on the plate. We are looking for a strong line cook to join our team, ready to perform a high variety of tasks on a daily basis. We are a small kitchen team executing at a high level and doing everything from scratch. Daily bread making, whole animal butchery, cheese making, pickling and preserving are common.In addition to working as a line cook, we also supply The Walden Market with prepped ready to eat foods such as dressings, hummus, pasta sauces, ready to eat meals, bread and desserts, so a wide background of skills and confidence is appreciated.
It is important to be a self starter in this role, there is a lot of opportunity for impact in this small kitchen, as well as learning through our various specialized processes.
The hours for this job are 12-10pm Tuesday-Saturday. The weekdays tend to be more prep heavy and the weekends are more service heavy. If you are looking for basic mastery of cooking tasks this is not the job for you, as the volume of what we do is small and the variety is high so you will not be doing the same tasks hours a day every day. But if you are a confidant cook looking to have a high variety of responsibilities and new experiences in the kitchen, this could be a good fit. Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $22.00)
