Role Summary

The Head Day Custodian is responsible for the daily supervision, training, and coordination of the custodial staff within an assigned building. Reporting to the Building Principal and the Custodial Supervisor, you will establish daily work priorities, inspect campus cleanliness, manage supply inventories, and ensure all mechanical cleaning equipment remains operational. You serve as the primary operational liaison between the building's administrative team and the facilities department.

  • Educationally Prepared: High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Technical Mastery: Fully proficient in operating mechanical cleaning equipment and troubleshooting basic maintenance needs.
  • Administrative Skills: Ability to follow detailed oral/written instructions, complete supply requisitions, and submit accurate written reports to supervisors.
  • Reliable & Connected: Excellent attendance record and reliable transportation required to ensure building coverage. Strong human relations skills are essential for collaborating with school staff, students, and supervisors.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
  • Team Leadership: Supervise building custodial employees, set clear daily work priorities, and inspect all work areas to ensure top-tier sanitation and organization.
  • Training & Development: Lead the orientation and operational training programs for new hires, instructing staff on the proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals and mechanical equipment.
  • Logistical Management: Arrange, adjust, and optimize staff work schedules to adapt to changing building needs, absences, and seasonal adjustments.
  • Supply Chain Oversight: Maintain an active inventory of custodial supplies and equipment, initiating timely purchase requisitions to keep the building fully stocked.
  • Equipment Stewardship: Regularly inspect facility cleaning machinery, perform basic upkeep, and initiate formal repair requests when needed.
  • Event Coordination: Oversee and coordinate the logistical preparation, room setups, and scheduling for afternoon and night-time school activities and community events.
  • Compliance Reporting: Compile and submit regular written reports and safety documentation to the Custodial Supervisor and Building Principal.
