Job Summary
The Student Assistant Barista/Retail position supports daily operations in Charger Central-Floyd by providing excellent customer service, assisting with retail sales, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. This position plays a key role in delivering a positive campus experience through efficient service, product knowledge, and attention to operational standards.
Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner
Answer questions and help customers locate products in Charger Central
Deliver high-quality customer service during both routine and high-volume periods
Provide quality beverages and food products according to standard recipes or customized by request
Assist customers with retail purchases and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system
Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) methods, health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
Restock merchandise, straighten displays, and maintain a visually appealing sales floor labeling items with dates, placing older items in the front or on top, and using dedicated shelving or lanes for seamless flow.
Assist with inventory counts and basic stock management
Follow college and departmental policies and procedures
Communicate operational issues or customer concerns to supervisor(s)
Assist with training new student employees when applicable
Perform other duties as assigned to support operations
Required Qualifications
Must have knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent
Must be currently enrolled in a program of study at Georgia Highlands College and be in good academic standing, 3.0 or higher GPA
Previous experience in customer service or retail environment
Previous experience as a barista in a fast-food establishment
Must have or have the ability to achieve ServSafe certification
Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
