Position: Cook 1 : 12pm-8pm Weekdays & Weekend Coverage
Supervisor: Certified Dietary Manager, Registered Dietician
Job Summary: Provides nutritious, palatable meals for the residents of Majestic Oaks, maintains a safe, sanitary work area following state and federal regulations, and supervises dietary department and staff in the absence of CDM or RD, and assure resident safety.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Must follow menus as written
Must follow production sheets for proper amounts
Must follow standardized recipes
Assure foods are served at the correct temperature, and temps are recorded for each meal
Record refrig/freezer temps at opening and closing, report any issue to manager
Assure proper serving size utensils are used
Must follow food safety guidelines daily
Label and date all food put into cooler and freezer
Keep work area clean at all times
Keep the coolers clean and neat, follow first in, first out rotation, discard outdated foods
Maintain stock area in a neat and orderly manner
Keep all equipment clean and maintained, inform manager of any malfunctions
Assist with keeping all dietary floors clean. Keep all garbage cans emptied and clean with clean liners
Serve the resident meals using proper serving sizes and consistency according to diet
Assure the meals are attractive and properly garnished.
Assure the trayline starts on time
Be able to supervise the dietary department and staff in the absence of CDM or RD
Attend all facility and department mandatory inservices
Keep management aware of any food/meal problems
Assure resident safety at all times.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Other duties as requested or assigned.
Working Conditions:
Works indoors in a well-lit, well-ventilated area.
May be exposed to wet floors, odors, chemicals, and extremely hot equipment throughout the workday
May be subject to extreme temperatures
Is subject to frequent interruptions and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
May be exposed to infectious waste, disease and conditions etc. including exposure to AIDS and Hepatitis B virus.
Educational, Physical, and Other Requirements:
Must pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Clearinghouse (Learn more: info.flclearinghouse)
Must be able to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and in other positions temporarily when deemed necessary by the department manager/director.
Must follow department dress code and wear clean uniform, clean shoes, a hai or cap inside kitchen and disposable gloves when handling food.
Must follow all sanitation prores.
Must wear name tag at all times when on John Knox Village property
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Must be free from allmunicable diseases and in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to sit, stand, lift ( up to 50 lbs. ), bend, squat, and move intermittently during working hours
Must be willing and able to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and in other positions temporarily when necessary
Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable amodations. Physical requirements may include frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee may be required to lift, stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and smell. Vision abilities may require close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
For the safety and security of our residents and patients, employees must be able to read, write, and verballymunicate in English, which is the most universally used language of our resident and employee population.
