Job DetailsL'Ardente is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and hospitality-driven Sommelier to join our team. Recognized for its modern Italian cuisine, extensive wine program, and elevated guest experience, L'Ardente offers an environment where exceptional service and genuine hospitality go hand in hand.
The Sommelier is responsible for guiding guests through the wine experience, maintaining and expanding wine knowledge across the service team, and supporting beverage operations. This position works closely with restaurant leadership and front-of-house teams to ensure that every guest receives thoughtful recommendations and memorable service.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional wine service and personalized recommendations to guests
- Assist guests with wine pairings that complement menu offerings and enhance the dining experience
- Maintain extensive knowledge of the restaurant's wine list, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage offerings
- Support inventory management, receiving, storage, and organization of wine and beverage products
- Ensure proper handling, presentation, and service of wine according to established standards
- Assist with wine list updates and menu changes as directed by beverage leadership
- Educate and train front-of-house team members on wines, regions, varietals, vintages, and pairing principles
- Collaborate with culinary and service teams to deliver a seamless guest experience
- Monitor beverage costs and help minimize waste and breakage
- Maintain compliance with all alcohol service laws and company policies
- Participate in staff tastings, menu development discussions, and special events
- Foster a culture of hospitality, professionalism, and teamwork
- Previous experience as a Sommelier, Fine Dining Server, or Beverage Professional in an upscale or high-volume restaurant preferred
- Strong knowledge of Italian wines and major wine-producing regions worldwide
- WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent certification preferred
- Excellent communication and guest engagement skills
- Passion for wine, food, and hospitality
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
