Who We AreNettare is a busy, multi-faceted space in Chicago. We run a daytime cafe, a curated retail shop, and a full restaurant all under one roof. Were looking for someone to take ownership of our morning beverage program and keep things creative, dialed-in, and running smoothly.
The RoleWere hiring a Lead Barista to be the creative driver of our coffee and tea program. This isn't just about pulling great shots and pouring latte artit's about building a menu that makes sense for who we are. Youll be working with the owner, the bar manager, and the kitchen to select seasonal ingredients and craft beverages that match our culinary approach.
Your regular barista shifts will begin at 7:00 AM and run until 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM, wrapping up just as the daytime service winds down.
What You'll Be Doing- Creative Direction: Developing new coffee and tea drinks. Youll collaborate with the kitchen and bar teams to share ingredients, brainstorm, and keep the menu fresh.
- Running the Cafe: Working 4 opening shifts a week. You'll be the one dialing in the espresso, keeping the pace during the morning rush, and setting the standard for quality.
- Prep & Organization: Using your dedicated weekly prep day to batch syrups, prepare garnishes, organize the station, menu development, inventory and relaying stock orders needed, and set the team up for success.
- Team Collaboration: Partnering with our AM Manager to ensure the daytime cafe service runs without a hitch.
What Were Looking For
- Specialty Coffee & Tea Experience: You need to know your stuff and be able to execute at a high level consistently.
- Love for Conceptual Restrictions: We lean heavily into highly seasonal and regional sourcing. If you view those parameters as a fun, creative challenge rather than a roadblock, youll fit right in.
- Collaborative Mindset: You should be excited to work across departmentsborrowing techniques from the kitchen or bouncing flavor ideas off the bar manager.
- Early Bird: You are the opener. Being reliable, punctual, and ready to kick things off at 7:00 AM is non-negotiable.
- $26/hour.
- A consistent schedule of 35-40 hours a week with afternoon and evening freedom.
- A highly collaborative environment where your creative ideas will actually make it onto the menu.
- Working alongside a team that cares deeply about quality food and beverages.
