Under general supervision, this position:

  • Performs food preparation and prepares meals following recipes and menus in accordance to to BHDD policies and procedures as well as DPH standards and regulations.

  • Prepares food according to cycled menu and production charts.
  • Prepares all food items for next meal or next days service.
  • Plan cooking schedule to ensure that all meals are ready for loading and transporting at designated times. Monitor loading of cam-carriers.
  • Utilize leftovers wisely. Leftovers can be prepared or cooked food.
  • Cleans and sanitize work areas, all food contact areas, and all utensils.
  • Meal Monitoring on the Aides, while checking for dislikes updates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

The position for this posting is located at Pee Dee Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Florence, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A high school diploma and experience in cooking.
Knowledge of the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution and serving of food products. Knowledge of dietetic principles involved in planning and reviewing menus for nutritional adequacy, dietary balance and attractiveness of prepared food products. Knowledge of the methods, materials and appliances used in a bakery. Ability to teach food preparation and cooking. Ability to maintain food service records and prepare written reports.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
