PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Work in all areas of the kitchen operations including sanitation, food preparation, serving, receiving and clean up in a pleasant and productive manner to improve and/or maintain the health of students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work well with others and follow directions
  • Can perform job assignments and comply with district policies and procedures
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to cashier and make change
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals and moisture
  • Can lift and carry up to twenty five pounds unassisted
  • Depth perception and peripheral vision are required
  • Ability to perform in stressful situations
  • Must have and maintain good customer service skills
  • Dependable, reliable, prompt, cooperative
  • Maintain a professional appearance

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE:

  • Cashier and Customer Service Experience Preferred

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high quality food by utilizing the menus and standardized recipes provided
  • Cashier and identify reimbursable meals accurately
  • Work in the dish room
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow safe food handling principals, including completing HACCP forms and taking temperatures
  • Properly use and care for equipment
  • Prepare and serve food in compliance with departmental, city, state and USDA policies and procedures
  • Participates in cost-effective use of resources
  • Notify manager of food and beverage items needed
  • Count and record quantities of amount of food prepared and leftovers
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the dress code
  • Promote teamwork with coworkers
  • Assist in cleaning all areas of the kitchen daily
  • Responsible for cleaning work area
  • Properly label, date and store food
  • Take out the trash
  • Adhere to CISD Child Nutrition dress code
  • Assist in all areas of the kitchen operations as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Communications

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English

Professional Growth and Development

  • Must obtain Texas Food Handler's Certificate within 60 days of their start date

WORKING_CONDITIONS:

Equipment Used:

  • Ovens, Steamers, Dish Machine, POS Computers, Mixer, Blender, Tilt Skillet, Microwave, All Kitchen Equipment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Will stand and walk most of the day.
  • Will be exposed to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance.

OTHER INFORMATION: Working 184 days per year

Various shifts available (4,5, and 6 hrs/day)
