Overview

Independent Living Associations are seeking dependable and hardworking Housekeepers and Maintenance Workers to support residential programs serving adults with developmental disabilities. These roles ensure that each residence remains clean, safe, and well?maintained, providing a comfortable living environment for the individuals supported across all five boroughs.

Key Responsibilities Housekeeping Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize common areas, bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, and resident rooms.

  • Perform routine tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and garbage removal.

  • Maintain cleanliness in shared living spaces and ensure supplies are stocked.

  • Follow agency cleaning protocols, including infection?control and safety procedures.

  • Report any maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.

Maintenance Responsibilities
  • Complete basic repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, minor plumbing, and patching walls.

  • Conduct routine inspections of appliances, equipment, and building systems.

  • Assist with seasonal tasks (snow removal, outdoor cleanup, etc.).

  • Support larger repair projects under the direction of the Facilities or Site Manager.

  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications
  • Prior housekeeping or maintenance experience preferred, especially in residential or healthcare settings.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Comfortable working in homes supporting adults with developmental disabilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and cleaning protocols.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Willingness to travel to sites across Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx, and Manhattan.

Work Environment
  • Positions are located across all five boroughs .

  • Work takes place in residential homes , community?based programs, and supported living environments.

  • Staff must be comfortable working in active settings with residents and support staff present.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Full?time and part?time shifts available depending on program needs.

  • Pay rate: $18$20 per hour , based on experience and assignment.
