Join the team making it happen! Serving up the #1 college food in Iowa, UNI Dining Services has a opening for a Pastry Chef de Partie.
This position creates and tests recipes; evaluates bakery products to keep the dining team current with dining trends; directs and oversees Fresh Beginnings bakery inventory controls and analyzes costs, cost trends, and product feasibility; develops and conducts demonstrations for training; recommends, hires, and interviews for Fresh Beginnings bakery staff; analyzes data and solves food cost and production issues; responsible for maintaining equipment; and uses menu management software to analyze data and manage meal costs.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in culinary arts or related field plus at least three years of experience as Pastry Chef or equivalent in food service operations required. An associates degree plus six years of experience as Pastry Chef or equivalent in food service operations may be substituted. Supervisory experience of culinary staff; experience working in a university or large volume hotel or convention center; experience with recipe creation and specification writing; large volume (300+) catering experience; experience creating presentations and teaching baking classes to students and campus community; fine dining experience; recipe testing experience; and experience using local, organic and sustainable products preferred. Student experience will be considered.
