We are looking for a part-time barista (10-20 hours per week)

Brooklyn Public Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza

Who Are We?

At Emma's Torch we provide refugees with culinary training, ESL classes and interview preparation. We set them up for successful employment in an industry in which their cultural heritage and cuisine can be celebrated. Whats more, we provide a community in which they can build supportive relationships.

Being multilingual is a plus!

Responsibilities
  • Make and serve coffee and tea beverages
  • Greet our guests while being warm and welcoming
  • Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work station
  • Comply with health and safety regulations (NYS Food Handler's a plus)
  • Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
  • Contribute to a positive team environment
Requirements
  • Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
  • Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to gauge customers preferences
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($20.00 - $21.00)
