Job Summary:
The Dental Receptionist is primarily responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the development and maintenance of dental records. As a team member, the Dental Receptionist will demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Answer clinic telephones and schedule appointments for patient visits
- Register all patients upon arrival at the clinic in a timely manner
- Compiles dental and medical histories on all new patients
- Collects fees from patients upon receipt of services and records payments accordingly
- Serves as overseer of the dental center's records
- Balance end of day reports, prepares bank deposit and maintains accurate information for cash on hand
- Attends continuing education in-services workshops
- Files insurance claims, performing follow-up functions as needed; responsible for posting of payments to the patients' accounts
- Maintain the waiting room in proper order, presenting a neat and clean appearance at all times
- Accept sliding fee applications and verifies accuracy of information
- Maintains files of the status of all applications, and enters sliding fee information into the computer
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines
- Requisition office supplies as necessary
- Prepare clinic for operation by turning on lights, unlocking doors, turning on computers, faxes, copiers, etc.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
- Verify timecard at the end of each pay period.
- Performs related work, as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic typing, accounting computer skills
- Good oral and written communication skills in order to prepare reports and follow-up
- Ability to relay and enforce policies and procedures
- Multi-task while working under pressure, meeting deadlines and answering telephones
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Ability for simple grasping and speed work
- Demonstrate positive personal attributes such as professionalism, honesty and integrity
- Conscientious of maintenance and appearance of Health Center
- Frequently sit, squat, reach and use both right and left forearm rotation and walk
- Occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
