About this Job
The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

Minimum Qualifications
Six months of food service experience in a food service operation; OR
Six months of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR
Six semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Performs food service work to include: preparation of meals, beverages, and snacks.
- Performs heavy manual extensive cleaning activities.
- Sets up steam lines, food carts, special diet trays, etc.
- Ensures condiment containers are filled, serves food trays as directed by supervisor.
- Operates dishwasher and stores clean dishes after each meal.
- Practices good personal and food sanitation regulations.
- Collects and disposes of all garbage accumulated in the kitchen, dish room, dining room and garbage disposal
