Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience in quantity cooking and care of food service equipment

Stamina to stand and walk on hard floors for long periods of time and ability to lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds

Serve Safe Certification

Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge Desired:

Works effectively with school personnel and students.

Knowledgeable on USDA and DPI guidelines and requirements.

Familiar with HACCP (Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Points) plan and each standard operating procedure for kitchen.

Must be able to follow written and oral instructions and be able to perform math necessary for recipe conversion.

Apply and maintain high standards of sanitation and personal hygiene per Outagamie County health codes.

To prepare all menu items and to adhere to recipe standards at all times.

Responsibilities:

Food Service Duties

Prepares and bakes food for students and adults following standardized recipes, menus, and portion control in accordance with departmental work and production standards. This involves lifting pans with weights up to 20 pounds. This also requires consistent standing/walking on hard floors.

Selects food items used in the menu. Foods must be weighed, stored or disposed of properly. This involves frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Washes, sanitizes and stores dishes, tableware and kitchen utensils. Cleans counters, tables, chairs and floors. Disposes of all waste properly. This involves frequent bending and twisting at the waist and lifting while doing so.

Operates and cleans all kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, steams tilting kettles, skillets, mixers, and choppers. This involves bending at the waist to a lower position in order to properly clean equipment.

Stores food and supplies in accordance with HAACP guidelines. This involves lifting above or below the waist to put selected items on shelving. These items can weigh as much as 50 pounds.

Assist in monthly inventory.

Assists in weekly food orders as needed.

Follows and complete production records as station assigned.

Attends classes or informational meetings as required.

Maintains food quality standards, which includes food appearance.

Promptly and fully informs supervisor of all problems or unusual matters and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests an alternative course of action which may be taken.

Wears proper uniform/clothing at all times and in accordance with HACCP standards. Assists in ensuring entire staff is adhering to safety and HACCP standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision

Supervises and trains other food service employees or substitutes when acting as head cook.

Term of Employment: School Year Position

This position is 5.75 hours/day Monday-Friday

Pay Rate: $18.35/hour
