Job: Sommelier within the Kuma Hospitality Group

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for the recommendation and sales of wine, sake and other beverages to guests and to help ensure the enjoyment of dining patrons at a Michelin-star level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Provide friendly, courteous and efficient service to all guests with making eye contact, smiling and maintaining proper posture.
  • Being knowledgeable about different types and regions of wines from all over the world.
  • Helping customers choose the correct wine for a meal and/or budget for either a la carte of tasting menus.
  • Getting glassware as needed for wine service, including wine pairings.
  • Notifies Beverage Director & Head Sommelier of any beverages that are 86ed or low.
  • Assisting Beverage Director & Head Sommelier with recommendations for ordering wines that best fit the menu and patrons.
  • Works as a member of the beverage team. Interacts with the service team in a positive manner. Assists others whenever needed.
  • Interacts with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly in resolving Guest complaints.
  • Supports Beverage Director & Head Sommelier in preparing wine orders on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Set up and break down every day before and after service.
  • Anticipate and service the guests needs before requests are made.
  • Follow proper time and attendance and uniform procedures
  • Be ready to provide education throughout wine tastings, by the glass and pairing descriptions and assist with new team members.
Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($16.50) plus tips
