IRC65131 Maintenance Worker I (Lot Clearing)

This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work in the mowing, edging, trimming and litter pickup associated with the clearing of overgrown lots. Work includes driving a commercial truck and trailer, using standard hand tools to perform tasks of a manual nature, and other related work.

Salary: $16.55 - $21.79 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess and continue to maintain a valid State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License.
  • Be able to operate mowing equipment.
  • Be able to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have some grounds maintenance experience.
  • Are able to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
