REPORTS TO: Director of Plant Operations

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, 12-month contract

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience: Minimum 6 months industry custodial experience preferred

Skills: Able to read and understand labels, instruction sheets, training manuals, MSDS sheets,log books, job description, etc.

SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to the position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

1. Keeps premises of office buildings, warehouses and educational buildings clean and in orderly condition by cleaning and dusting furniture, cabinets and fixtures in assigned area; cleaning entry ways, doors, windows, sills and walls; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, toilets, wash basins and drinking fountains; refilling towel and soap dispensers; cleaning marker boards and erasers; emptying and cleaning trash receptacles.

2. Performs floor care on all types of floors such as carpet, tile and cement floors which includes but is not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing, polishing and sanitizing.

3. Maintains area security on assigned shift by locking and unlocking offices, classrooms, shop and conference areas; reports vandalism, damage and items needing

repair to proper authority.

4. Contributes to efficient building upkeep by reporting all maintenance needs to night lead, replacing defective light bulbs in overhead fixtures and other locations, and performing routine minor maintenance requests.

5. Coordinates and assists in room set-up and tear down as needed.

6. Clears walkways and other areas as needed during snow, ice or other inclement weather.

7. Operates all equipment and machinery as per manufacturing safety standards and procedures; reads MSDS and follows guidelines so noted for all chemicals.

8. Follows district safety procedures and uses all equipment per safety guidelines; demonstrates safe work habits; reports potential safety hazards; follows established district procedures in the event of an accident.

9. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor and/or site administrator. These duties

include but are not limited to, unloading of groceries, moving books, furniture, etc. Assists with set-ups of site functions. Could be asked to report on inclement weather days to ensure safe operations at the site and to prepare for the return of students and staff.

ESSENTIAL BEHAVIOR:

Ability to use sound judgment and to appropriately receive and respond to directions from supervisor. Able to deal successfully with changes in job assignment and to properly respond to complaints. Able to work cooperatively and build harmonious rapport with all district employees and the public while achieving the objectives of the job.

ATTENDANCE STATEMENT:

Able to be in attendance for a normal work schedule with 95% minimum attendance.

Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, evenings and holidays as required by position responsibilities and upon management discretion.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity. Position requires performance of duties in wet, humid hot and cold conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places and in enclosed areas; exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals possible; some work may be performed outdoors as in snow and ice removal and policing of the grounds in all weather; position has exposure to noise, vibration and risk of electrical shock. Normal hazards can be expected as associated with the provision of custodial services to sites.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS: 95% of time is spent on the feet. Requires ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 12 feet. Job requires the ability to grasp and manipulate hand tools and cleaning equipment. Ability to lift/carry and manipulate objects and supplies of up to 50 lbs for up to 50 feet is required. Standing in place for short periods. Walking as required to access equipment and perform responsibilities. Movement as required in operating buffers, scrubbers, wet vacs, vacuum cleaners, etc. Use of hands to do fine finger work. Strong eye-hand coordination. Climbing and balancing. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting of objects over the head. Talking and hearing as to communicate concerning job-related duties as assigned. Smell. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) with or without correction Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) with or without correction Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors). Peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
