Description of Work

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications Housekeeping Supervisor II to work on 1st Shift. Housekeepers perform a variety of duties while cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, common areas, lobby areas, offices, bathrooms, and other assigned areas both inside and outside the hospital building by using the appropriate disinfectants and cleaners to enhance the overall appearance and sanitation of the hospital.

They also operate various pieces of heavy cleaning equipment, perform medium to heavy physical work, and will need to follow written and verbal instructions. Much of the work is performed independently, but you will also be part of a team and must be willing to be a good team member. We expect that you will be pleasant, courteous, and thoughtful around patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Cleaning ceilings, light fixtures, vents, and walls

Dusting and polishing furniture Sweeping, vacuuming, dust mopping, and wet mopping

Sanitizing hard surfaces Buffing and polishing floors and shampooing carpets

Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, including replenishing paper supplies and soap, as needed

Emptying trash receptacles; and Performing other related duties as requested by the supervisor or management

The normal work schedule for 1st shift is Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, and the normal work schedule for 2nd shift is Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. On both shifts, you will be working rotating weekends.

These positions are designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To receive credit for all your work history and credentials, you must list the information in the "Work Experience" section of your NC State application form. Any information listed under the text resume section; Additional Information or on an attachment will not be considered for qualifying credit. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess the following:

Documented experience in cleaning on a large scale or industrial level

Previous experience in housekeeping is required

Management prefers candidates with the following:

Experience working in a Psychiatric setting

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Education and/or experience in housekeeping work that is directly related to the job and consistent with the accepted practices of the trade equivalent to three years of experience, one of which was in a supervisory capacity.
