AIP is looking a Cook II to work in Miami, FL. The Cook I assists Cook II in performing a variety of tasks concerned with the preparation and serving of food and beverages. Responsibilities- Prepare in quantities, by various methods of cooking a variety of foods including soups, sauces, meats, fish, vegetables, baked goods, etc.
- Prepare foods for special diets
- Plan cooking schedules so food is ready at prescribed times
- Insure delivery of food at the prescribed times
- Provide the measuring, mixing, and stirring, cutting, grinding, chopping and seasoning of ingredients according to recipes
- Test foods for completion of cooking time and adjust heat controls
- Monitor the baking, roasting, broiling, frying and steaming of foods as called for in recipes
- Monitor the carving and dividing of portions into individual servings
- Assist in the equipment training of detainees
- Monitor daily operations in food productions for conformance to establish quality, quantity, safety and sanitation requirements
- Review menus to determine type and quantity of food to be prepared
- Draw required cooking utensils from kitchen storage areas
- Load and unload delivery trucks as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record)
- Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance
- Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests
- Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective
- Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public
- Capability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials
- Proven ability to exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities
