The selected candidates will provide dining services across the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) campus. This is a temporary to hire position that is expected to last 4 months, with strong performers becoming permanent employees.
POSITION SUMMARY - Serve customers in a friendly manner. This includes setting up the stations properly, cooking customer orders, ensuring that food is held at proper temperatures, and breaking down stations while maintaining proper safety and sanitation of area.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner.
- Assist Cooks in preparing menu items according to production specifications and recipes from our menu management database.
- Communicate effectively with staff, student employees, other management team members and the general public.
- Assist in training and supervising students on all food procedures for both front and back of the house of operation
- Serve customer orders including short order cooking and frying as needed while ensuring proper portions are being served.
- Insure that all foods are high in quality, served and stored at proper temperatures and times. Follow all New York State and Monroe County health codes as they relate to health, sanitation and safety. Serve as a good example for proper sanitation, cleaning and personal hygiene.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take customer orders and serve including short order cooking and frying as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to all in a friendly manner
- Supervise and train student workers on proper food procedures, portions, cooking procedures, and serving temperatures.
- Ensure food is being held and served at the proper temps
- Assist cooks in prepping items as needed for the stations including filling ready to eat items, chopping, and portioning food items
- Set up serving lines with cold and hot items
- Follow all NYS and Monroe County health codes relating to health, sanitation, and safety while providing a good example to co-workers and students.
- Maintain a clean and organized station throughout the meal periods
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification, professional license, or credential: Servsafe and Allertrain Certificates or the ability to obtain w/in 6 months of hire
- High School Diploma/GED
EXPERIENCE - 6 months of experience in a high volume restaurant, country club, or institutional setting.
