DSHS Olympia Heritage Behavioral Health MDD Food Service Worker

DSHS's Olympia Heritage Behavioral Health MHD is seeking two Food Service Workers to join our team with a passion for helping people. As a Food Service Worker, you'll be involved in the preparation and serving of food and beverages, and clean up for a large-scale food service operation.

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

The work schedules is as follows: a) Tuesday- Saturday 10:30pm -7pm with Sunday Monday as regular days off; AND b) Satur day -Wednesday 10:30pm 7pm with Thurs day-Friday as regular days off.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Assemble, prepare, and serve meals and snacks to patients according to dietary guidelines and meal tickets
  • Transport food carts to ward kitchens and ensure timely meal service
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and adherence to dietary restrictions
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary food service environment, including dishwashing, kitchen sanitation, and dining area upkeep
  • Safely handle and store food items in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Conduct temperature checks on food and kitchen equipment to ensure proper storage and preparation conditions
  • Support inventory management by stocking, rotating, and tracking food supplies
  • Work collaboratively with medical and dietary staff to accommodate specialized meal plans
  • Adhere to infection control standards for a healthcare organization
  • Heavy duty cleaning of carts and kitchen equipment/tray line/dish room as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

What we're looking for:

  • Ability to follow instructions and directions given by supervisors/lead workers/doctors/dietitians to properly, efficiently and safely do various jobs in the kitchen.
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend through verbal and written forms of communication with management, peers, clients and the public.
  • Understand Doctor's/Dietitian's orders to appropriately texture and prepare food for the clients.
