JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for use of cash registers, electronic scanners, and related equipment to conduct monetary transactions with guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets guests on arrival and regards on departure in a warm and inviting manner.
- Checks cashier supplies such as register tape and settlement sheets and brown upon arrival to ensure there is enough for the shift.
- Prepares and sells all food items on the menu and handles all monetary transactions, such as cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and comps from guests as payment.
- Ensures accuracy in computing bill on cash register; makes correct change and issues receipt.
- Closes register at end of each shift to include counting down drawer and completing necessary paperwork.
- Returns cash to the main bank, leaves a copy of shift checkout in the Restaurant Mailbox.
- Cleans and sanitizes food service equipment used to prepare and serve menu items.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of daily menus and prices.
- Conducts opening and closing inventories.
- Interacts with guests to maintain great guest relations and provide opportunities for loyalty.
- Ensures and maintains cleanliness and orderliness of workstation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of menu items and guest service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three months experience in food & beverage or related field.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Must obtain and maintain Serv-Safe certificate.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- The Team Member will be required to stand for the duration of the shift.
- While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to sit or stand; walk; use hands to finger reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The Team Member may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- The Team Member may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- The work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, and smoke, depending on the assigned station and guest volume.
