The Jefferson in Washington D.C. is currently recruiting for a Pastry Cook to join our highly acclaimed and award winning Culinary Department.
The Jefferson, Washington D.C. has been named one of the top hotels in Washington, D.C. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in growing within a culinary setting that finds delight in the details that take our guests experience beyond expectation.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily execution of basic pastry recipes.
- Prepares desserts and other specialty baked items for the restaurant and banquet functions.
- Responsible for decorating cakes and other desserts as well as presents these in an artistic manner.
- Operate all electronic kitchen appliances.
- Ensure that food preparation and serving areas are safe, and sanitary food handling practices are followed.
- Communicate effectively with other departments.
Qualifications include:
- Previous relevant experience as a Pastry Cook preferably in a luxury or fine dining establishment.
- Knowledge of high quality, upscale pastry, and dessert preparation.
- Knowledge of confection of chocolate and macaroons is a must.
- Stable work history.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Excellent guest services orientation.
- Move easily throughout the hotel and kitchen.
This position requires scheduling flexibility to include working nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
