Job description

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the steward room cleanliness, meeting Health department guidelines, and proper stacking of dishes and kitchen equipment.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:

Essential:

Assist with kitchen steward room set-up, opening, and closing duties.

Stock all kitchen and banquet supplies according to par

Assist in maintaining a clean work environment.

(Dish room, storage, chemical room, dry storage, disposal of wasted material).

Assist in food plate/preparation as needed for significant banquet events.

Any kitchen-related requests are made by management.

Basics:

Attend required meetings

Keep work areas clean and organized.

Be extremely courteous to all customers and fellow employees.

Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately.

Report any equipment malfunction to the Chef.

Maintain hotel equipment in proper working conditions.

Any other duties assigned by your immediate supervisor

Physical Requirements:

Standing/Walking: Constantly. Concrete, tile, rubber mats covering tile, carpet, and stairs.

Crouching (Bend at knees): Constantly. Lift heavy objects, put supplies and dishes away, and lower shelving in walk-ins and storage areas.

Stooping (Bend at waist): Constantly. Loading and unloading dishes and supplies

Reaching (overhead/extension): Frequently. Putting inventory away

Twisting (knees, waist, and neck): Constantly. Answering the telephone, reaching for dishing up, washing pots, running warmers, loading and unloading the dish machine carts and racks, and other tasks.

Climbing: Frequently. Putting glasses, pots, silver, supplies away, a step ladder, and a stepping stool.

Handling: Constantly. Pots, pans, dishes, silverware, glasses, chemicals, soaps, and hot water.

Balancing: Frequently. Putting dishes, silverware, and supplies away and working with hot equipment.

Pushing/Pulling: Average weight. Constantly. Racks and carts weighing between 1 and 150 pounds. Maximum weight: Occasionally 200 pounds

Lifting/Carrying: Average weight: Constantly. Supplies, plates, pots, pans, glasses, mops, chemicals weighing between 1 and 75 pounds. Maximum weight: Occasionally 100 pounds.

Near Vision: Constantly. Corrected to 20/40 (hot, sharp objects)

Whole field of vision: Frequently. Handle all aspects of a busy and active dish room area

Smell: Occasionally. Detect potential hazards and odor.

Work Area: work under wet conditions.

Working Environment:

1. Kitchen supply storage areas are exposed to extreme temperatures.

2. The hotel's exterior is exposed to various weather conditions.

3. Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.

4. Exposure to food items and beverages.
