Receptionist Funeral & Memorial Services (Onsite)

We are seeking a compassionate and professional Receptionist to support a funeral and memorial services facility in Kansas City, KS 61162 . This is an onsite role offering $14/hr for a 5-month initial contract , with the potential to transition into a permanent position . The receptionist is responsible for warmly welcoming families and visitors, managing incoming calls, and providing administrative support as directed by the Office Manager. This is a meaningful opportunity to assist families during sensitive times with care, professionalism, and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist visitors and client families at the front desk
  • Announce and direct guests to appropriate staff or meeting rooms
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming calls courteously
  • Provide basic information regarding services, products, and directions
  • Assist with deceased belongings and follow proper chain of custody procedures
  • Maintain a clean and comfortable waiting area and offer refreshments when needed
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail and packages
  • Perform basic clerical duties including light typing, data entry, and document handling
  • Maintain and organize electronic and paper records
  • Notify management of any customer service or security issues immediately
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 6 months of receptionist, administrative, or office support experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Clear, professional speaking voice and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and compassion
  • Must be dependable and available to work weekends or non-standard hours as needed
