Provide custodial services and minor maintenance for the City of Kerrville public facilities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent. 1. Perform custodial duties by sweeping, mopping and buffing floors, vacuuming carpets, dusting offices, office furniture and computers, cleaning windows, emptying and disposing of trash, cleaning bathrooms, hallways and common areas, air vents, water fountains, refrigerators, hand rails, door knobs and break rooms. Observe and maintain safety rules and procedures. 2. Minor maintenance consist of changing light bulbs, cleaning light fixtures, tightening door knobs, changing air filters and batteries. 3. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Physical and Environmental Conditions: Duties are generally performed citywide in both outdoor and indoor settings. This is medium to heavy work requiring the exertion of fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, up to twenty (20) pounds of force frequently, and up to ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move, lift and push objects. Work requires driving, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling. This position is subject to outside environmental conditions, including extreme cold, extreme heat, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge in the safe use and handling of cleaning equipment and machines.
Knowledge in the safe use and handling of cleaning compounds and chemicals.
Ability to safely use power equipment such as vacuum cleaner and buffer.
Ability to use hand tools properly.
Ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies and MSDS Sheets.
Ability to maintain flower beds.
Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
Vacuum, mop, broom, buffing machine, ladders, hand tools, trash bags, cleaning supplies
Cleaning compounds and chemicals
Gloves, goggles
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent
Possession of a valid Texas Class C driver s license
One year related experience preferred
Special Requirements:
Duties require working nights and or weekends in emergency situations as required.
