West Bath School
School Cook
The West Bath School (K-5) is seeking a school cook to work 5.5 hours per day, 5 days per week (or 27.5 hours per week), for up to 38 weeks of the year. The anticipated hours are from 8 AM-1:30 PM.
Job Goal:
A cook is responsible for general cooking in a school kitchen, the preparation and serving of school meals, and the cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of the kitchen manager.
The cook will:
- Plan and participate in the preparation, serving, and clean-up of meals according to the requirements of local, state, and federal guidelines
- Operate standard cooking equipment such as ranges, mixers, etc.
- Arrange tables, wash dishes, utensils, trays, and equipment
- Participate in annual training and program meetings as requested
- Complete other duties as assigned
Candidates must have
- specialized training in sanitation, food handling, and safety
- a thorough knowledge in all aspects of of food preparation, including scratch cooking, in a school or large scale kitchen, as well as knowledge of nutrition and food values
- the ability to follow standard recipes
- a high school diploma or its equivalent or greater
- CHRC certification and current Serve Safe Training
- a positive attitude, pride in work performance, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with others in support of the goals of the school
- the ability to lift 40 lbs
