Dietary Cook for Assisted Living
The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious, appealing meals for residents at The Lodge at Bethany. This role ensures that all meals meet dietary restrictions and preferences of residents, promoting overall health and well-being. The cook will collaborate with the dietary team to ensure proper meal planning, preparation, and portion control. This position also requires maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, following food safety regulations, and ensuring that all food is prepared according to established standards and guidelines. The Dietary Cook plays a key role in enhancing the dining experience for residents, fostering a positive, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook daily meals based on approved menu plans.
- Follow dietary restrictions and individual preferences of residents.
- Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation are up to facility standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with health codes.
- Store food items properly and manage inventory to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
- Serve meals and ensure proper portion sizes.
- Adhere to food safety regulations, including temperature control and proper handling.
- Assist with special dietary needs, including diabetic, low-sodium, and allergy-friendly meals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a cooking or food preparation role, preferably in a healthcare or assisted living setting.
- Knowledge of dietary needs for residents, including common health conditions and dietary restrictions.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work some weekends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry heavy items, and perform manual tasks associated with meal preparation and kitchen upkeep.
