About the Role
We are seeking a dependable, experienced Line Chef to support daily operations on a mobile food truck specializing in authentic Salvadoran and Guatemalan cuisine. This role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving a rotating menu in a high-paced environment, ensuring food quality, consistency, and safety across each shift.
The ideal candidate is fluent in both Spanish and English, comfortable working in compact mobile kitchens, and able to collaborate with rotating guest chefs while maintaining a clean, efficient, and compliant food service operation.
What You'll Do:
Prep & Cook Daily Menu
Execute a daily menu of Salvadoran/Guatemalan staples (e.g., pupusas, tamales, guisados, rice & beans, curtido)
Serve 100200 plates/day efficiently in a fast-casual food truck setting
Maintain portion control and ingredient consistency across shifts
Safety & Cleanliness
Follow mobile kitchen food safety practices (hot-hold/cold-hold temps, glove use, cleaning schedules)
Assist with greywater handling, oil/FOG disposal, and kitchen sanitization per MD/DC health codesMobile Unit Plan ReviewFood Truck Fog Document
Support Guest Chefs
Collaborate with featured chefs during cultural spotlight activations
Prep mise en place, batch recipes, and assist with flow behind the line
Represent the campaign with warmth, flexibility, and professionalism
Work as a Team
Partner with the Food Truck & Kitchen Manager daily
Assist with vehicle setup, kitchen restock, and end-of-day teardown
Help troubleshoot issues calmly and communicate with other team members and BAs
What We're Looking For
Spanish-English bilingual (required) must feel confident communicating in both languages
2+ years experience cooking in mobile units, fast casual kitchens, or Latin American restaurants
Familiarity with traditional Salvadoran or Guatemalan ingredients and prep styles
ServSafe Certified (or willing to get certified before September)
Able to work in tight spaces, lift 40+ lbs, and stay calm under pressure
Passion for food, culture, and hospitality were here to serve our community, not just customers
Commitment & Location
- Availability: September 2025 January 2026
- Location: Based in/near Langley Park, MD with activations across DC metro
- Schedule: Mostly weekday activations (~6 hours/day + setup), with occasional weekends or community tentpoles
Compensation
$25 - $30 Hour. Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience
Perks:

$100 monthly travel stipend (where applicable)
