The Washington Commanders are seeking a full-time Cook 1 / Line Cook to join our team at our state-of-the-art practice facility in Ashburn, VA. In this role, you'll help prepare meals for our players, coaches, and staff, working in a cutting-edge kitchen outfitted with top-of-the-line equipment: grill, plancha, brick oven, woks, smoker, circulators, and more. Compensation & Benefits

Core Responsibilities
Cooking Operations
- Oversee a station on the line for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.
- Prepare all proteins, starches, vegetables, sauces, & garnishes for the station each day.
- Create and maintain a daily prep list to ensure smooth service.
- Taste and check all sauces, starches, vegetables, and proteins to ensure the highest quality.
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries; maintain clean and organized storage areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling protocols to uphold the highest standards.
- Ensure that all food preparation equipment is being used safely and correctly and that each are cleaned and maintained correctly.
- Operate, clean, and maintain food preparation equipment properly and safely.
- Support the executive chef, sous chefs, and teammates to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
- Be ready to jump into any station (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) as needed.
Menu Creating
- Collaborate with the executive chef, sous chefs, and cooks to create weekly menus for various stations (entrees, pasta, stir-fry, salad, pizza, etc.).
- Contribute innovative ideas and keep a nutrition-focused approach when developing new dishes.
- Stay current on industry trends and continually research new recipes and techniques to keep menus evolving.
- Write and document recipes for new menu items.
Miscellaneous
- Read and respond to all necessary emails in a timely manner.
- Participate in required trainings, seminars, meetings, and ongoing education.
- Show a commitment to personal growth and support the growth of your teammates.
- Listen to and engage with feedback from colleagues and leadership.
- Foster a supportive, collaborative, and positive kitchen culture.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in classic cooking techniques
- Skilled in protein butchery, stocks, sauces, and general protein, starch, and vegetable cookery
- Minimum 2 years of professional foodservice experience
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience in scratch-cooking kitchens
- Fine dining experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree or culinary degree preferred
