Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

+ Required High School Diploma or equivalent

+ Must possess a Texas State Drivers License or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.

+ Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in a custodial or maintenance role.

+ Thorough understanding of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols relevant to recreational facilities.

+ Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to custodial work, including the safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals, proper use of personal protective equipment ( PPE ), and adherence to OSHA guidelines.

+ Skilled in: Establishing rapport with a variety of clients; providing excellent customer service; conflict resolution; prioritizing workload; providing leadership to team.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience supervising full-time staff in a higher education setting.

+ Experienced in custodial or janitorial work, preferably in a recreational facility or similar environment.

+ The ability to develop work schedules, monitor work progress, and adjust staffing levels as needed contributes to the overall effectiveness of custodial operations.

+ Ability to identify cleaning challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.

+ Experience in training new custodial staff and providing ongoing development opportunities for existing team members.

Job Description

Responsible for providing a clean, safe, and sanitized environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors of the university by performing custodial duties and directing and supervising the work of custodial staff.

Job Duties

Program Management: 40%

+ Assist with the daily coordination and management of the Custodial Operations program, including facility supervision and operational policies and procedures.

+ Develop proposals and implement innovative ideas for the improvement of overall operations and growth of programs/services/usage.

+ Develop and conduct assessments of program goals annually. Report assessment results to leadership as documentation of programmatic outcomes supporting department and division goals.

+ Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively communicating with custodial staff, facility managers, and other stakeholders. Clear and concise communication of expectations, instructions, and feedback helps ensure that cleaning tasks are performed to the required standards.

Staff Development and Oversight: 30%

+ Conduct routinetrainings, meetings and develop staff schedules.

+ Train and orient new custodial crew members, and provide ongoing training and support for existing crew members

+ Required monthly in-service meetings for custodial staff

+ Commitment to providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience for event attendees, sponsors, and other stakeholders

Administration and Budget Development: 10%

+ Work with Assistant Director in the completion of overall area budget.

+ Use budget forecasting models to project future payroll, equipment, operating expenses, and revenue. Monitor income and expenses.

+ Purchase equipment and supplies.

+ Approve staff time and ensure compliance with payroll and purchasing processes.

Risk Management and Safety: 10%

+ Ensure staff compliance with industry standard safety and risk management practices, facility and equipment inspections, andestablishedCampus Recreation policies and procedures.

+ Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to custodial work, including the safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals, proper use of personal protective equipment ( PPE ), and adherence to OSHA guidelines.

Other Duties: 10%

+ Actively participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department.

+ Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.

+ Other duties as requested or required, whether specifically mentioned in this job description.

+ This position requires a flexible work schedule which at times will require frequent attendance during evenings and weekends. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
