Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: 10:00am - 6:00pm St. Paul's Assisted Living in South Bend is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our culinary services team. The Prep Cook supports the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting with basic food preparation to ensure residents receive nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented meals in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities: Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring food items according to recipes and menu requirements Assist cooks and chefs in preparing and plating meals for residents Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, prep areas, and equipment Properly label and store food items to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination Follow all food safety regulations and company policies Help with receiving and storing deliveries and rotating stock Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure efficient kitchen operations Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Manager Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting strongly preferred Knowledge of basic food preparation and kitchen safety procedures Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Must be dependable, punctual, and professional in demeanor ServSafe certification is a plus Work Environment: Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds Work involves exposure to hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and various food allergens Schedule may include weekends and holidays What Perks and Benefits Can You Look Forward to?
