SUMMARY
The Frank Art Gallery at the Charles F. Dodge City Center of Pembroke Pines is seeking an energetic, efficient individual for the important position of Guest Services Representative. A perfect fit for an upbeat, customer service-oriented individual with a passion for the arts and an interest in learning about the nonprofit creative arts world, the ideal Guest Services Representative engages directly with the public to fulfill the gallery’s operating and cultural goals. The responsibilities will include a variety of tasks related to daily gallery operations. This will involve working as part of a team to support various projects, such as coordinating events, training volunteers, implementing art education initiatives, and providing general administrative support for both the exhibition and program departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Front desk duties include greeting visitors, answering the phone, opening and closing the gallery and helping to maintain the appearance of the gallery.
- Track and record guest count, and create detailed reports of event and programs.
- Monitor the gallery and ensure the safety of both exhibition artwork and gallery guests.
- Absorb exhibition guide content and answer questions from the public.
- Assist with event setup, coordination and breakdown.
- Assist with basic website and social media profile maintenance and assist with creation of in-house promotional materials as needed.
- Thoroughly promote upcoming events, programs and volunteer opportunities via email/social media campaigns.
- Lead groups of children and adults in field trips.
- Instruct groups in beginner-level crafts and art-making activities.
- Assist with volunteer and docent recruitment, training and coordination.
- Handle money from retail exchanges and admission fees.
- Assist with daily cleaning of work areas and gallery spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and understanding of gallery goals, policies and procedures.
- Must be willing to work with diverse groups of people including educators, volunteers, children, and parents.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Must work well both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs.
- Proficient in social media and other online marketing platforms preferred; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, and Canva.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a non-profit or customer service setting preferred, but not required.
- Experience in a museum, gallery, or other visual arts setting preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with students and volunteers preferred, but not required.
