POSITION OVERVIEW

The Janitor is charged with maintaining a safe, clean working environment for all dealership employees and customers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleans the service and customer areas.
  • Performs routine building maintenance in such a manner as to minimize interruption of customers and/or employees.
  • Washes all windows, glass doors, and glass panels throughout the service area.
  • Mops and cleans service waiting area, offices, technicians’ locker room and lunch room, halls, and shop bathroom.
  • Sweeps technician stalls, service department, and body shop floors, halls, and vending areas.
  • Cleans all signs, posters, service signs, mirrors, fans, and vending machines.
  • Maintains hot beverage areas by cleaning counter surfaces and restocking coffee and related supplies.
  • Cleans bathrooms and restocks paper supplies.
  • Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing debris as necessary.
  • Empties and cleans lunchroom refrigerators once a week.
  • Washes shop truck, inside and out.
  • Cleans fork lift and power equipment.
  • Empties and cleans all trash and cigarette receptacles.
  • Removes all debris from lot.
  • Maintains yard equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Cleans oil storage tanks according to procedures.
  • Drains and properly disposes of used oil filters.
  • Removes any old scrap parts from the shop after checking with the parts manager.
  • Returns cores to storage area.
  • Assists technicians with oil and water spills and with emptying drain tubs.
  • Trims shrubbery and removes debris.
  • Runs errands as directed by Service Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL a plus)
  • Proven track record of achieving or over-achieving goals.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Understands the OSHA Right-to Know and other federal, state, and local regulations.

Work Environment

  • Normal accessibility of all work sites required for the position
  • Normal exposure to weather and temperature extremes, cramped spaces, loud noises, chemicals and fumes, dust, heights or work safety hazards
  • Normal amount of overtime or extended work hours required

Physical Effort

  • Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account
  • Normal physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place
  • Normal physical strength to handle routine materials and tools
  • Normal physical strength to handle 50-pound object, taking frequency into consideration
  • Normal dexterity of hands and finger
  • Normal coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot
  • Normal endurance
