Job Description
The Lead Counter Server is responsible for preparing and serving food & beverage items in a cafe or counter service environment. This position reports to the Restaurant Manager and/or Assistant Manager.

Essential Job Functions
- Assist management team with training new employees, assigning opening/closing duties, section assignments and scheduling, monitoring performance and productivity.
- Act as the manager on duty in the absence of a manager
- Rectify guest and employee issues immediately, reporting all incidents to the management team
- Assist with inventories as required
- Operate POS system and handle cash/credit transactions
- Provide alcoholic beverage service to guests
- Assist with storage of food, beverage and wood deliveries
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work environment through cleaning and organization to include but not limited to: storage areas, dining areas, restrooms, kitchen equipment, walk in fridge/freezer storage, trash, recycle, including task such as wiping tables and equipment, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping
- Assist in keeping exterior spaces, safe and clean which may include: placing ski racks, snow removal and moving deck furniture
- Report any problems with food product, kitchen equipment, work area, dining space and exterior of building to a Chef/Manager and make them aware of guest comments and concerns
- Participate in preparation, safe handling and service of food product according to applicable health codes, laws and the Chef's/Manager's specifications which will include the basic operating of cooking equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Proficient work experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred
- Proficient guest service experience is preferred
- TIPS Certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic computer and math skills required
- Ability to communicate and follow oral or written directions in English is required
- Ability to ski or ride at an intermediate level is required for employees of ski in/ski out restaurants in winter
- Ability to safely operate and be able to train others on the operation of various kitchen equipment to include but not limited to: oven, grill, flattop, soup kettles, slicers, robo-coupe, immersion blender.
- Ability to safely use a knife & be able to demonstrate consistency with knife cuts.
- Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals
- Ability to remain focused, organized, flexible, and detail-oriented
- Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working
Additional Information
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
- Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
